I am not self centered. I just thought that if you want "important" people to think of you and see you, you might want to show how much you can bring in!!! I am sure those important people would like to know how much value you hold and maybe you can book more shows that bring in the crowd. The comment about people not wanting their sh*t out in the open and they don't want their dirty laundry shown, should not be out in the open and act as they do!!! I know there is some SH*T that should not be seen b/c, well, they are gross!!! GROSS??? now that's just plain mean and nasty WTF?

Afraid everyone will find out your nobody important? What your basically saying is the band should take more crowd shots but only of people you deem worthy enough to be featured in those pictures? Ya ok um hum. Last time I checked the band already has 2 great photographers who do a wonderful job at their respected positions within the group. I don't think they're looking for another one. Neither of these gentleman discriminate when taking pictures of fans. If it looks like someone is having a good time, they'll snap a picture of it. Who are you to say that just because someone doesn't fit your ideal that the band photographers shouldn't take a picture of it? As for your notion of more crowd shots draw bookings and /or a bigger crowd. Not necessarily so. While pictures of what size of crowd the band draws can play a factor, there's a hell of alot more involved in booking a show and making it successful. If it's not properly booked and promoted, just a few pictures really don't mean much. It's a combination of everything together that makes a show successful at a new club. (ESP an out of town one where really nobody knows who you are)

Replying from a photog's standpoint, I can say that sometimes crowd shots arent good. Some clubs dont want pics of people taken because if could be bad for a person or for the club. Case in point. A now defunct club in Scranton had a lawsuit filed against the club because a patron had his photo taken in said club. The photo was put on a band website for all to view. His parole officer saw the photo and since this person was not supposed to be in a bar, he got into some trouble with the law. Then said dickhead turns around and tried to sue said night club for violating his rights because of the photo being taken without his knowledge. So when I was allowed to take photos of bands I had to take only band shots and NO crowd or bar workers. Two other clubs that I have been to prohibit cameras into the club. And also some people dont like to be photographed doing dumb things because they are afraid that somebody may see said dumb acts in photos on the web. Boyfriend may get mad at gfriend flashing boobs or hanging with some guys or same with the ladies concerning their bfriends. And some think that it will be like the Girls gone wild thing and get spread on the web. I only shoot people I know wont mind or friends of the band that are cool with photos. Or people who request getting their photo on the band website. And I have deleted some photos by request to save band members or fans from others knowing there actions. Plus, I am in the mind set when shooting to get great live rockin photos of the guys, so I really dont pay attention to the crowd that much. Like when I shoot racing. I am so concentrated on the cars and getting that great shot that I dont see the crowd. I do take a few of the crowd if it was good or really rockin. Plus my photo stuff isnt good for really close up crowd photos, so I think that the HairBears are better at that. Plus they get the good goofy drunk shots...... ;D

I've seen all of the bands the guest listed and I do have a reply. The show that HF1 puts on for their fans is statement enough on how they feel. They put the effort forth eavery night to put on a kick ass show!
I try to see them every time they go to YP. During their breaks they spend the whole time interacting witht their fans- that says a lot. I have no disrespect for YUM and Ribbon Grass, I am just a Metal fan and HF1 does it the best.
Another great show last night!!
