A while ago, I posted a top 100 list done by Hit Parader Magazine featuring their supposed best vocalists of all-time. It was a disaster. Well, the fine folks at Hit Parader have decided to give us the Top 100 bassist & drummers of all-time. Well, there it is in all it's glory. First thing is first...there is a hell of a lot of people on here that I have no clue about. So to say that these musicians are the best that metal has to offer at their instrument is totally subjective. The old guard of music, I can understand, but why give an accolade to a guy that has only been in the national eye for a few months? Too damn early to start blowing some up-an-comer (No pun intended).
However, my biggest gripe comes from one major fuck up. How can you put Rick Allen of Def fucking Leppard at #47? He lost a fucking arm! That immediately puts him at top 5 for that alone. Forget that he still plays better than most two armed drummers. That is complete bullshit, especially since they pretty much focus on his accident the whole portion of his write-up. Not to mention that one of metal's most renowned drummers, Mike Portnoy, ends up in the 80's when a guy like Lars Ulrich gets #2? What the fuck is this world coming to? Portnoy would destroy Ulrich in a drum-off on his worst day. That is a fact. Ask any drummer in this world who knows anything about technique and knowledge of the instrument and they'll tell you. Hit Parader littered this shit list with so many fucking new age metal bands that it's a joke. Where's Rod Morganstein or Charlie Benante, or Frankie Benalli? Hm? Where's their fucking love? How about Eric Brittingham or Jack Blades, or Les Claypool? fuck all the wanna-be's in the rock world right now. In 10 years, they'll be forgotten. Give the credit where credit is fucking due.
On a side note, this paragraph was also in Hit Parader. Had to do with Paul McCartney and The Beatles and it made me want to kill the writer. Check this out:
OVER N' OUT: Friends hope it doesn't happen, but Sir Paul McCartney might be in for an embarrassing moment or two on account of a little lady. Please...we can say no more...No joke here, but a sign on a restaurant wall in Gotham reads as follows: "Show me, show me now. No, it was not a big reaction. It's just that you absorbed electricity from our test circuits." By the way, the aforementioned bistro was serving alcoholic refreshments...And speaking of The Beatles, in conclusion, how much money must John, Paul, George, and Ringo be racking in if they can thumb their noses at Steven Jobs and Apple Computer and expressly forbid any of their classics to be offered on the I-Tunes, Ans. Hundred and Hundred of millions of British pounds per year!!!
Well, I can answer how much John and George are "racking in" these days...NONE! THEY'RE FUCKING DEAD! I can't believe the people that write shit like this. How about you get someone who knows what the fuck it is they're bitching about instead of what appears to be a 7 year old Phillipino child who's trying to speak English for the first time and has no clue who the fucking Beatles even were? Yes friends, this is the type of senseless horse shit that Hit Parader grinds out once a month. There is plenty more where that came from, but I'm tired of typing, so I'll put more in tomorrow. Till then...
