Alright folks...who do you feel is the most underrated 80's hair band? Some may not know some of these bands, but I encourage anyone who hasn't heard at least one song from any of these bands to check them out.
My choice was TNT. I am such a huge fan of Tony Harnell's voice and the band vocally as a whole....breathtaking. Esentially, there are 4 lead vocalists in this band. I think Tony Harnell is one of the best high range vocalists alive today. 20 years in the business and he hasn't lost one octave on his voice. Simply amazing. Their newest album My religion is, in my opinion, their best since Intuition. Just a great band that I feel never got their chance to shine in this country as long as they have in their native country. Just a shame they got swallowed up in the other "Late bloomer" bands that came onto the scene at the tail end of 80's big hair. They need to hook up with one of the package tours in the summer sometime and get back into American stages. I know I'd go without hesitation. Awesome band.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said about TNT, but my vote just had to go with Steelheart. Mike Matijevic's voice to me is just as good if not better than Tony Harnell's, and to me, the songs were better. These guys never got the credit they were due. I mean, "I'll Never Let You Go" was a great song, but they have so many more! Everyone needs to do themselves a favor and find a copy of "Tangled in Reins" and listen to it from start to finish. F-in' AMAZING, especially "Mama, Don't You Cry". If that song doesn't turn you into a blubbering idiot, nothing will.

Hafta vote for my boy Steve "The stickman" Whiteman and Kix. Its just a shame that douche bag Bret Michaels stole Kix's show and took it to Hollywood and got lucky. Kix is only rivaled by AC/DC in the best sexual innuendos in Rock music. The hairband phase was dying when they scored with DCYE. And then there next cd got chit for support from the publisher. And it was a shame because that cd is SOLID from start to finish. Show Business.
Everytime I am in MD or DE shooting racing, I always get people come up to me and say man i havent seen a Kix shirt in years, I love that band.

Then get a chair and smakk away.. ;D It is known that BM saw a Kix show and basically stole the show idea to use for Poison. I saw 2 Poison shows at Montage a few years ago and wasnt impressed. The shows were the same exact shows other than a new part in the stage by the drum riser. Same songs, same lame hey pa its nice to be back home, blah,blah. Same drivel he says at any pa show. And when Cinderella were on the bill, they BLEW poison away. |

So you're saying you hate Bret because he swiped an idea he seen at a Kix show, took it to hollywood, and became famous. Gee I'd hate to break it to ya... but things like that happen all the time!
As for Rella blowing Poison off the stage.... Not like the first time I heard that one. I love both bands for different reasons so I can appreciate the performance from both. I really hope Poison pulls out all the stops for their Anniversary. But I'm not holding my breath. Tour dates will prob be up and official by the end of the month (for a May start). Montage is one of my favorite outdoor arenas so I'm hoping that's a workable date for me.
Finally, LOL! Get a chair? The boys are all smart and know when I say... be careful what you ask for. I won't need a chair, I'll just kick you in the knee caps and you'll be my size real easy. LOL! besides... you should know... a dominatrix likes a man on his knees.

Wow...Kix rocks tho....Im not touchin the whole Bret thang, cuz Mistress KNOWS how to use that whip,  But I got to meet Kix when I was about 14 maybe 15 they opened for WhiteSnake the 3rd time I saw them....They were really cool guys!!! |

Things and riffs get "Borrowed" from other artists. Thats not the whole reason I dislike BM/ Poison. They just arent my thing. The had several ok songs and used their gimick of make-up/look like chicks to get an audience. Kinda like catch phrases do for comics(like Larry the cable guy/ Jeff Foxworthy) Kix had better tunes and better musicians IMO. We all like diff stuff or we would be stuck listening to the drivel played on Mtv today.. ;D Plus, sorry sista, Slash dont ride the pain train.. |
